The Coffee Hatch at Six Acre Nurseries is run by Countryside Enterprises CIC – a community interest company owned and operated by adults with learning disabilities.
Countryside Enterprises provides a safe and supportive environment where adults with learning disabilities can develop practical, work-based skills to help them progress into paid employment or other meaningful opportunities. It comprises a number of small, rural enterprises that benefit both the individuals involved and the local community.
Current enterprises include Sprouts Farm Shop, The Coffee Hatch, The Shiners Car Washing Group, fresh fruit and vegetable growing, jam and chutney making, rural arts and crafts, fresh cut flowers, and The Oaky Folky Woodwork Workshop, as well as various seasonal ventures. Any profits generated are reinvested back into the company to develop or improve the enterprises, and any remaining surplus is shared among those involved.
Countryside Enterprises CIC is currently owned and run by 120 adults with learning disabilities across three sites: Greenfields in Seagrave, Six Acres in Costock, and Fairfields in Queniborough.
The Six Acres site is located within a working garden centre, which offers an ideal setting for enterprises to engage with the visiting public. This is where The Coffee Hatch is based – a welcoming café offering a delicious selection of handmade cakes, hot and cold meals such as jacket potatoes and paninis, barista-style coffees, and a wide range of snacks and sweet treats. Also, available to purchase are handcrafted items produced by the Rural Arts and Crafts and The Oaky Folky enterprises, along with a carefully curated selection of locally sourced products.
We’re excited to announce that Buzzy Honey Bee products are now available at The Coffee Hatch!
