This is raw propolis, not a ready-made tincture.
The 10 g jar is unprocessed resin from our own apiaries. Fill the jar with food-grade alcohol, wait, filter, and you have an extract. The method is written for this jar.
How to prepare it
- Fill the jar with food-grade ethyl alcohol between 40% and 80% (around 80% is the better pull).
- Cap it tightly. Shake gently morning and evening.
- Leave it for a few weeks to a few months, until no hard lumps remain.
- Filter through a coffee filter or unscented kitchen paper. Do not press the filter.
The short list is the outline. The full kitchen method — which alcohol to buy in the UK, how to dilute 95% Spirytus to 80%, freezing the jar so the pieces crush, and how to filter without clouding the extract — is here: How to Prepare a Local Raw Propolis Extract.
What propolis is, and how it differs from honey, sits in Propolis – Nature’s Protective Gift from the Hive.
What is in the jar
Pure raw propolis. Nothing added.
It is a resin. It stains worktops and cloth. Cover the table before you crush or filter it.
The finished extract is high in alcohol. It is not a medicine, and this page is not a dosage chart. Do not give it to children. Do not use it if you react to bee products.
Lid on. Cool cupboard.
