This is a weekday breakfast, not a project. The oats take under ten minutes. The honey takes one spoon. Eat it hot, at the table, before the bowl sets a skin. If you want it later, let it cool and stir the honey through then — still not back on a hard boil.
Blueberry is the jar in this bowl because it sits in porridge without taking over. You taste oats first, then honey, then a deep berry at the end. The same breakfast works with any fruit-infused pot. Raspberry is sharper and wakes the bowl up. Strawberry is softer, closer to a slow Saturday. Banana is milder if you do not want the fruit to argue with the oats. The rest of the flavours live together under honey with fruits.
You do not have to use fruit at all. A named-village jar from raw honey keeps the bowl tasting of honey only — useful when the rest of the table already has jam on toast and you want one quiet breakfast.
Variations
Change the bowl, not the rule. Honey still goes on after the pan is off the heat.
Thicker. Use 350 ml milk and stir a little longer. The spoon should stand for a second.
Thinner. Cook as written, then loosen with a splash of cold milk in the bowl so the honey folds through instead of sitting in a lump.
Water only. Fine, if that is how you already make oats. The honey does more of the flavour work, so a fruit jar earns its place.
Overnight oats. That is a different breakfast. Mix oats and cold milk, fridge overnight, honey in the morning. Do not heat the fruit jar to “finish” it.

Honey Porridge with Local Honey
Ingredients
Equipment
Method
- Put the oats, milk and salt in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a gentle simmer over a medium heat, stirring so it does not catch.
- Cook for 5–7 minutes until thick and creamy.
- Take the pan off the heat. Leave it for a minute.
- Divide between two bowls. Stir a tablespoon of honey through each bowl, or leave a spoonful on top. Do not boil fruit-infused honey in the pan.
Notes
How to store
Leftover porridge keeps in the fridge for a day. Loosen with milk when you warm it. Add the honey after it is hot again, not before it goes in the fridge.
